Overview

As a Ground Investigation Consultant, you contribute to Arcadis’ UK-wide Site Evaluation and Restoration work by collecting and managing field and lab data and preparing technical reports. You will supervise field activities on client sites, with a focus on infrastructure projects such as rail, highways and waterways. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated geo-environmental outcomes, supporting professional development and business growth. This role offers exposure to diverse projects and a global pool of technical experts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage ground investigations and site activities with strong health and safety emphasis
  • Collect and log soil, rock and groundwater data; perform in-situ testing
  • Coordinate sample collection, documentation and laboratory scheduling
  • Prepare and compile data for Factual Ground Investigation Reports
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients and stakeholders and communicate progress and risks
  • Support field-based work across the UK and supervise contractors
  • Produce technical outputs including reports, specifications, and documentation aligned with Arcadis standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project outcomes
  • Develop understanding of Arcadis services and client sectors to support business growth

Key requirements

  • BSc degree in Geology, Environmental Geoscience, Environmental Science or related Earth Science discipline
  • Experience on-site supervising contractors, including drilling contractors
  • Minimum 12 months delivering geo-environmental projects (geotechnical or contaminated land)
  • Understanding of hazards, risk management and health and safety in ground investigations
  • Strong report-writing skills with experience on Factual Ground Investigation Reports
  • Working towards professional membership and chartership with a relevant body
