Overview

As Senior Managing Engineer in Exponent’s London Civil & Structural Engineering Practice, you lead and grow a profitable consulting area while shaping technical direction. You engage with clients, manage projects, and mentor staff across technical and business dimensions. You’ll promote Exponent’s expertise through client meetings, conferences, and seminars, and contribute to dispute resolution and expert testimony. This role combines leadership, technical excellence, and business development to expand our presence in the UK market.

Responsibilities

• Develop and grow a profitable structural engineering practice based in London
• Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities and promote Exponent
• Recruit, mentor, and develop staff in structural engineering, failure analysis, and dispute resolution
• Promote Exponent’s structural engineering capabilities via client engagement and speaking engagements
• Provide strategic consulting and expert witness services
• Deliver advanced, client-focused technical solutions in your areas of expertise
• Oversee project management and budgets
• Mentor staff in technical and business competencies

Key requirements

• MS or PhD in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
• Significant business development experience with a proven track record
• Existing client base and strong professional reputation
• Experience in construction claims, dispute resolution, and litigation services
• Proven ability to attract projects and manage full-time staff
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
• Record of professional papers and presentations; commitment to quality and accuracy
• Chartered Engineer (CEng)
• Strong leadership and stakeholder interaction skills
• Experience providing expert testimony in disputes
