Principal Structural Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead structural design and assessment for building refurbishments and historic schemes in a London-based consultancy. You will work within a skilled team on varied projects, from conservation to complex refurbishments, often under framework agreements with repeat clients. You’ll balance design and report writing to deliver robust solutions and support project success. This is a high-impact, client-facing position that shapes how bricks and beams meet functional and historic requirements.

Responsibilities

• lead structural design for buildings and refurbishment projects
• produce technical reports and calculations
• engage with clients and manage project outcomes
• contribute to surveys, surveys, and conservation works
• work on historic and conservation schemes and London cut-and-carve projects
• collaborate with cross-functional teams on commercial, residential, and retail schemes

Key requirements

• Chartered MIStructE or MICE (preferred)
• buildings structures experience in refurbishment and conservation
• London-based or eligible to work in the UK
