Technical Director – Fire Life Safety

Overview

In this role you will act as the chief technical authority for Fire Life Safety within a growing UK operation of an international engineering consultancy. You will provide technical leadership across a portfolio of projects and guide a developing team of engineers. You’ll set and assure technical standards, support complex designs, and work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outcomes. This is a hands-on, non-sales leadership position with scope to influence how the UK capability grows and matures.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and oversight across a growing portfolio of Fire Life Safety projects
• Offer technical guidance, peer review and assurance for complex designs
• Maintain and improve quality and standards as the business expands
• Mentor and develop engineers, supporting career growth and capability building
• Establish and govern technical standards, processes, and ways of working for the UK operation
• Engage with clients and project teams to communicate technically and collaborate with other disciplines
• Work closely with commercial leadership without chasing fees as the primary focus
• Contribute to shaping the UK Fire Life Safety capability and regional team development

Key requirements

• Senior level experience in Fire Engineering / Fire Life Safety
• Strong technical credibility to lead and challenge peers
• Chartered status preferred
• Experience delivering complex Fire Engineering projects in built environment
• Ability to act as senior technical authority, provide governance and technical assurance
• Mentoring and developing engineering teams
• Effective communication with clients and multi-disciplinary teams
• Ability to influence technical standards and processes across the UK operation
