Director, Digital Asset Operations

Overview

You will help build and govern Janus Henderson’s Digital Asset Operations, bridging innovation and execution for tokenized investments and blockchain-enabled servicing. You’ll shape the operating model, governance, and controls, aligning with multiple functions across the firm to enable scalable production support. The role focuses on launching tokenized product capabilities, ensuring regulatory readiness, and partnering with key business units. This is a strategic opportunity to establish a new capability that supports growth in digital assets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the operating model, control framework, escalation paths, service levels, and readiness plans for digital asset initiatives
• Create and maintain governance materials such as process maps, RACI models, risk/issue logs, and launch checklists
• Define requirements for run-the-business and change-the-business activities for digital asset operations
• Design operational workflows for token issuance, onboarding, transfers, lifecycle events, settlements, reporting
• Assess interoperability between blockchain infrastructure and traditional fund accounting, transfer agency, custody, and distribution platforms
• Define controls for tokenized share classes including registry integrity, eligibility, and settlement finality
• Outline servicing models for tokenized shares, including distribution readiness and servicing workflows
• Perform due diligence and oversight of external partners and service providers in digital asset initiatives
• Establish governance forums, decision-making frameworks, and management reporting for digital asset programs
• Identify operational risks, regulatory considerations, and control requirements for tokenized products and services
• Collaborate with Distribution and Investments to assess client, product, and regional needs for tokenized offerings
• Monitor market developments and regulatory changes related to digital assets and tokenization
• Support additional duties as assigned

Key requirements

• Extensive experience in asset management, fund administration, or related financial services operations
• Deep understanding of traditional front-to-back investment servicing models
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across business, operations, technology, risk, compliance, and legal
• Exposure to digital assets, tokenization, blockchain-enabled products, or digital custody
• Ability to translate technology concepts into practical operational requirements and controls
• Strong strategic thinking in ambiguous, evolving environments
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence senior leaders
• Strong written and verbal communication for executive materials
• Experience in operating model design, process mapping, and risk assessment
• Strong analytical skills across multiple workstreams
