Overview
In this role you drive governance, controls, and vendor oversight to ensure a stable, auditable payroll environment. You act as a bridge between payroll operations, vendor management, controls governance, and leadership reporting. You will oversee vendor issues, maintain evidence and control documentation, and contribute to payroll KPI reporting. The role requires strong organizational discipline, stakeholder management, and the ability to operate in a regulated, change-oriented setting. You will help sustain governance routines and drive continuous improvement with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day payroll vendor relationships and external partners
- Track and coordinate open issues, change requests, and interface matters for timely resolution
- Escalate risks or delays affecting delivery, quality, or governance
- Maintain governance routines with vendors, including action tracking and documentation outcomes
- Collaborate with stakeholders to promote accountability and service discipline across payroll operations
- Support enhancement of payroll control environment and maintenance of control documentation
- Contribute to monthly control attestations with accurate evidence
- Assist upkeep of control procedures and governance records
- Identify gaps and remediation activities in processes
- Support production, validation, and governance of payroll KPI reporting
- Ensure reporting content is accurate, owned, and decision-ready
- Contribute to dashboards, trend analyses, and management information on payroll performance
- Maintain version control and governance of reporting outputs
- Prepare materials for stakeholder reviews and leadership updates
- Build cross-functional relationships across Payroll, HR, Finance, Risk, Audit, Technology, and external vendors
- Provide structured support for audits, reviews, issues, and leadership priorities
- Ensure governance activities are delivered consistently with proper documentation
- Foster continuous improvement, resilience, and strong control discipline
Key requirements
- Significant experience in operations, governance, controls, vendor management, or related operational risk/gov environments
- Experience in payroll is preferred
- Strong understanding of control frameworks, evidence management, documentation standards, and audit readiness
- Experience managing or supporting third-party vendor relationships in regulated environments
- Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to prepare clear governance materials
- High attention to detail and accuracy in control discipline
