Overview

In this role you will take overall ownership of a construction project as the Number 1 on site, leading the team to deliver safely, on time and to the required quality. You will coordinate subcontractors and site operatives, manage site logistics and ensure adherence to drawings, specifications and RAMS. The position sits within a client-focused consultancy in Yorkshire with national project exposure, offering significant ownership and hands-on leadership. You will shape project delivery through proactive problem-solving and strong stakeholder management. This is an opportunity to drive end-to-end site performance on multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for day-to-day site delivery
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and site operatives
  • Plan and monitor works to maintain programme
  • Coordinate with Project Manager, Site Engineer and project team
  • Ensure works align with drawings, specifications and standards
  • Maintain health, safety and environmental compliance
  • Manage site logistics, sequencing and day-to-day coordination
  • Monitor workmanship and quality standards
  • Collaborate with Site Engineer on setting out, QA and technical matters
  • Review RAMS and ensure on-site adherence
  • Attend and lead site meetings as required
  • Monitor progress and report against programme
  • Manage site documentation, records and reporting
  • Identify and resolve issues to protect schedule
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and project team
  • Keep the site professionally presented throughout the project

Key requirements

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager within construction
  • Experience running projects as Number 1 Site Manager
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes and site management
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Experience managing subcontractors and site teams
  • Strong programme and planning skills
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Proactive problem-solving approach
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Relevant construction qualifications and certifications
  • Full UK driving licence
