Electrical Design Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in a well-established building services consultancy near Southampton, you will lead electrical design across projects from concept to completion. You’ll work with clients and cross-functional teams, manage your workload, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring compliance with regulations and sustainability goals. The role offers exposure to diverse projects within a collaborative, growth‑oriented environment and a clear path to progression as the business expands. You will shape technical solutions and client relationships to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design on building services projects from concept to completion
• Manage own workload and collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams
• Produce electrical calculations, specifications, reports, and technical drawings
• Ensure designs meet current regulations, quality standards, and sustainability objectives
• Support and mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the team
• Attend client and design team meetings to build strong project relationships

Key requirements

• Experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy environment
• Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong knowledge of UK building services design and relevant regulations
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux or similar
• Proactive, collaborative approach with excellent communication skills
