Overview
In this role you lead the technical delivery of civil engineering consultancy across the full project life-cycle. You will apply expertise in drainage, flood risk, SuDS, highways, earthworks and utilities to a range of land and infrastructure schemes. You’ll take project leadership where needed, mentor junior staff, and engage with clients and stakeholders to ensure on-time, on-budget, compliant delivery. The work supports sustainable development within a high-performance Planning and Development team. You’ll contribute to shaping multi-disciplinary design and drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day technical delivery of civil engineering consultancy services throughout feasibility to construction
- Provide technical expertise in drainage, SuDS, flood risk, highways, streetscape, earthworks and utilities for development projects
- Act as Project Manager on multi-disciplinary projects and guide junior staff
- Engage with clients, stakeholders and design teams to secure approvals and maintain alignment with timelines and budgets
- Ensure delivery meets budget, programme, quality and compliance requirements
- Contribute to the development lifecycle including land acquisition, planning support, design and construction delivery
Key requirements
- Knowledge and experience in highway design, drainage strategies, flood risk management, and utility design within the development sector
- Design experience focused on drainage, flood risk, highways, earthworks and utilities
- Awareness of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics and building structures; understanding of construction design stages
- Ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, calculations and construction drawings
- Familiarity with design codes (Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, Local Authority Design Guidance, SuDS Manual)
- Awareness of climate change and sustainability guidance
- Proficiency with Micro Drainage, Info Drainage, Civils 3D and/or PDS
- Experience liaising with clients, co-professionals, and authorities for approvals and permits
- Knowledge of planning, design consent, adoption and contract procedures for sewers, SuDS, highways and utilities
- Understanding of financial and contractual aspects of bidding and delivering projects
- Postgraduate experience and nearing Chartership (or equivalent) with intent to progress
- Willingness to become ICE Supervising or Delegated Civil Engineer; eligibility for UK SC security clearance
