Overview
In this role you will lead the European statutory accounting and statutory reporting for a global energy business. You will manage a 4-person financial accounting team and coordinate month-end close and external audit processes, ensuring timely, accurate reporting and strong internal controls. You will support cross-border entities, maintain SOX compliance, and work with external auditors to deliver compliant statutory accounts. Your work will involve complex accounting across UK and US GAAP, SAP-based processes, and potential M&A-related accounting projects. This is an impactful role for someone who drives process improvements and fosters a high-performing finance team.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate month-end close and internal corporate reporting for the European entities
- Manage statutory accounts process and external audits with KPMG
- Maintain and document SOX controls and perform timely SOX testing
- Oversee HQ accounting functions for the region and ensure data integrity in SAP
- Coordinate company formations/closures, dividends, intercompany activities and pension analysis
- Lead the accounting team with performance expectations, coaching and development
- Manage ad hoc European financial accounting projects (acquisition accounting, going concern cash flow forecasting)
- Drive process improvements and leverage systems to enhance efficiency
Key requirements
- ACCA/ACA qualified
- 10+ years post-qualification experience in financial accounting and statutory reporting in a commercial environment
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Advanced Excel and SAP; OneSource knowledge preferred
- Strong knowledge of UK & US GAAP accounting standards
- Experience with external audits and managing relationships with auditors (KPMG)
- Ability to coordinate month-end closings and ensure timely reporting
