Energy Analyst | UK Power & Flexibility Markets

Overview

In this role you will analyse UK power and flexibility markets to identify revenue opportunities for flexibility assets, including BESS and DSR. You will develop valuation and optimisation models and present actionable recommendations to internal and external stakeholders. You will collaborate with Commercial, Product and Operations teams to support growth and product development, driving commercial outcomes in the UK energy market.

Responsibilities

• Analyse UK power and flexibility markets, market design developments and competitive dynamics to spot commercial opportunities and risks
• Identify and assess revenue stacking opportunities
• Present market insights, valuations and modelling outputs with clear commercial recommendations
• Collaborate with Product, Commercial and Operations teams to support optimisation strategies and business growth
• Build, maintain and enhance analytical and commercial models to assess value and performance of flexibility assets (BESS, DSR, Distributed Generation)
• Evaluate trading and optimisation strategies across wholesale markets, Balancing Mechanism and Ancillary Services

Key requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Energy Systems, or a related discipline
• Experience with energy market modelling, simulations and optimisation frameworks
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to translate market data into actionable recommendations
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication, including presenting to senior stakeholders and clients
• 3+ years’ experience within UK energy markets (flexibility markets, BESS, energy trading, asset optimisation, route-to-market strategies)
• Strong understanding of UK wholesale power markets, Balancing Mechanism and Ancillary Services
• Experience using analytical tools such as Excel, Python, Power BI
