Overview

As Principal Structural Engineer in the Water Team, you will shape the design of complex water infrastructure projects across the UK, guiding technical solutions from concept to delivery. You’ll lead multidisciplinary design efforts, mentor colleagues, and maintain strong client relationships to deliver high‑quality outcomes. You’ll tackle challenging, value‑driven problems across pumping stations, water treatment works, and large structures. This role offers visibility across AMP8 programmes and the chance to advance both technical leadership and impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design of projects and oversee detailed design activity
• Develop robust, efficient structural solutions for a range of heavy civil structures
• Mentor team members and foster professional development
• Interface with other design disciplines and manage client communications
• Prepare and review drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports
• Sign-off on project deliverables with emphasis on quality and compliance

Key requirements

• Degree or equivalent in civil and structural engineering
• Membership or progressing towards membership of ICE or IStructE
• Experience delivering structural solutions in multidisciplinary environments
• Experience with structural design to applicable standards and specifications
