Overview

In this role you support and drive safe operations across the EWR Phase 2 programme, upholding the Alliance’s safety leadership. You will develop and maintain health and safety processes to back design and construction delivery, and actively engage with Alliance staff, subcontractors and third parties. You’ll investigate incidents, capture lessons, and lead safety improvement projects that raise performance. This is a chance to shape safety culture on a high-profile rail project with cross‑disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain health and safety processes to support project design and construction delivery
  • Liaise with Alliance staff, subcontractors and third parties on health and safety matters
  • Conduct inductions and support H&S training for staff and subcontractors
  • Investigate incidents, capture lessons learnt and implement changes
  • Deliver health and safety improvement projects to improve performance
  • Collate and report health and safety KPI data
  • Monitor compliance against IMS via audits, inspections and KSB assessments
  • Represent the H&S Manager at meetings as required
  • Coordinate office/site health and safety management arrangements
  • Ensure timely communication of controlled documents, alerts and reports
  • Champion near-miss reporting within project teams
  • Support development/delivery of H&S training, stand downs and briefings

Key requirements

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Collaborative behaviours
  • Knowledge of general health and safety legislation
  • Knowledge of railway-specific legislation and standards (Railway Group Standards, Network Rail Co Standards)
  • Behavioural Change training
  • Computer literacy with health and safety reporting systems
  • Strong attention to detail
