Experienced Corporate Tax Manager/Associate Director

Overview

In this Associate Director role, you will lead tax advisory for privately owned and private equity–backed businesses within Grant Thornton’s Private Capital team. You will advise on a broad range of compliance and advisory matters, and own client conversations to deliver high-quality guidance on tax strategy. You’ll mentor more junior staff, drive market presence through pitches, and cross‑sell across the GT network to add value. The role blends hands‑on client work with leadership to shape growth for entrepreneurial clients and the firm. You’ll work in a collaborative, inclusive culture that balances ambition with a people‑centred approach.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on a wide range of tax issues including compliance and advisory projects
• Lead client meetings and provide clear, confident responses to queries
• Deliver high-quality tax advice on time, building trust with clients
• Oversee projects and ensure correct skills are used across the Tax teams
• Develop and mentor junior team members and support their career progression
• Provide innovative tax solutions and actively cross-sell wider GT services
• Lead on pitches and proposals and grow the business through market presence

Key requirements

• Professional qualification (CTA/ACA/ACCA or equivalent) with post-qualification experience
• Experience managing a portfolio of entrepreneurial business clients
• Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation and international concepts
• Experience reviewing work and supervising others in a tax environment
• Experience in a professional services setting
• Demonstrable business development experience
• Willingness to deepen knowledge of the firm’s services
