Overview
As an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead major data centre projects, supervising the project team and managing bids and client engagement. You’ll maintain a strong hands-on technical core while expanding your leadership scope to cover project direction, risk, and interface with clients and contractors. The role sits within an international MEP practice renowned for low energy, low carbon design, and holistic project delivery. You will help shape technical specifications and coordinated solutions for mission-critical environments. This is a growth step with meaningful impact on scale, team capability, and client outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Direct major data centre projects with team management
- Run feasibility studies and prepare fee bids
- Develop mechanical specifications for controls and operating systems
- Survey existing installations and produce technical reports
- Monitor project risk and performance
- Front client and contractor meetings
- Coordinate engineering services to deliver holistic solutions
Key requirements
- Chartered Engineer status
- MCIBSE or MIEE
- BSc or BEng in engineering, or HND/HNC with substantial experience
- Extensive mechanical specification design across building types, ideally data centres
- Contract and business law knowledge with BS standards and UK regulations
