Engineering Manager – Water & Infrastructure

Overview

In this Engineering Manager role, you lead multi-disciplinary teams delivering water and infrastructure projects from concept to construction support. You’ll provide technical leadership, governance, and mentoring while maintaining strong client relationships to support the UK Water sector growth. You will shape project solutions across water and wastewater facilities, pipelines, and related civil structures, promoting safety, quality, and sustainability. This position offers exposure to high-profile UK projects within a collaborative, supportive culture. You will help develop capability across the business and drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams delivering projects across water and infrastructure
• Provide technical leadership and governance throughout the project lifecycle to ensure quality, safety and compliance
• Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, reports and technical documentation
• Act as Technical Lead or Design Lead on major projects and frameworks
• Support planning, resourcing and delivery to programme, budget and quality objectives
• Develop strong client and stakeholder relationships as a trusted technical advisor
• Drive cross-discipline collaboration to deliver integrated solutions
• Mentor, coach and develop engineers at all levels for technical excellence and career progression
• Support business development activities, proposal preparation and client engagement
• Promote innovation, continuous improvement and application of industry best practice
• Champion a culture of safety, quality and sustainability across teams

Key requirements

• Significant experience in civil engineering, infrastructure or water sector project delivery
• Strong technical knowledge across water and wastewater treatment assets, pipelines, pumping stations and associated infrastructure
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams within a consultancy or contractor environment
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical governance, design assurance and engineering oversight
• Strong stakeholder management and client-facing experience
• Experience managing project resources, budgets and delivery programmes
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with a collaborative, solutions-focused approach
• Strong understanding of British Standards, water industry standards and engineering best practice
