Real Estate Associate Solicitor – Development – 5+PQE – Cardiff

Overview

In this role you will provide pragmatic, commercially focused real estate development advice to private and public sector developers and funders. You will work autonomously and within a development team to handle land acquisitions, site assembly, funding, and related due diligence, supporting major projects and the growth of the practice. The position emphasizes strong technical ability, client relationships, and collaboration across colleagues. It offers the opportunity to shape development outcomes across commercial and residential schemes within a growing firm.

Responsibilities

• Handle land acquisitions via options, conditional contracts and package deals for private developers and housing associations
• Draft and negotiate conditional leases for pre-lets
• Manage site assembly activities including planning, adoption agreements, utility wayleaves and substation transfers
• Assist with construction documentation as required
• Advise borrowers on development funding requirements
• Conduct full development due diligence for funders
• Manage onward disposals of completed units and investment sales
• Collaborate with the development team on major projects and firm growth

Key requirements

• Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years’ PQE in property development
• Strong technical competence in complex development matters
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Commercial awareness and pragmatic problem solving
