Overview
In this role you will oversee multiple highways and civil-engineering projects across the Bristol and Gloucester region, leading delivery teams and managing budgets, safety, and client relationships. You will influence how major schemes are delivered and shaped over the next four years within a structured delivery environment. This is a hands-on leadership position with accountability for programme performance and work-winning support, offering a clear impact on project outcomes and client governance. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and continuous improvement, contributing to a cleaner, greener future through major infrastructure delivery.
Pay / Benefits
- Salary 61,000 – 63,000
- Car allowance or company car (12.5%)
- Discretionary annual bonus (12.5%)
Responsibilities
- Oversee multiple highways and civil-engineering projects
- Lead and support Project Managers, Site Managers and delivery teams
- Own budget, health and safety, and programme performance
- Maintain strong client relationships with public-sector stakeholders
- Participate in contract discussions within delivery governance
- Provide input during tenders and support work-winning activities
- Mobilise new teams for secured projects
- Drive quality, compliance and continuous improvement across projects
Key requirements
- Proven Contracts Manager level experience or equivalent senior leadership
- Background in highways or major civil-engineering delivery
- Track record of leading multiple projects or major packages
- Strong leadership with multi-disciplinary team management
- Full accountability for budget, HSE, and client relationships
- Familiarity with contractual discussions and tender processes
- Full UK driving licence with regional travel flexibility
- Strong leadership and people-management
