Overview

In this role you will lead the development and ongoing enhancement of AXA UK’s Financial Crime Compliance framework. You will act as the subject matter expert on sanctions regimes and oversee screening controls to ensure regulatory adherence. You’ll conduct risk assessments, monitor control effectiveness, and present insights to senior management. You will collaborate with legal, risk, and compliance partners to embed a strong culture of compliance. Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of AXA UK’s Financial Crime Compliance Framework
  • Act as the subject matter expert on sanctions regimes (UK, EU, UN, OFAC) and oversee sanctions screening controls
  • Conduct financial crime and sanctions risk assessments, monitoring key risk indicators and control effectiveness
  • Prepare and present reports, metrics, and insights for senior management and governance forums
  • Support regulatory engagement, audits, and remediation activities related to financial crime matters
  • Assist in delivering financial crime and sanctions training programmes to promote awareness
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the business, legal, risk, and compliance functions
  • Monitor changes in sanctions and financial crime regulations, advising on necessary control adjustments

Key requirements

  • Strong experience in third-party, supplier, outsourcing, or operational risk management within financial services or similar regulated environments
  • Deep understanding of third-party business models, distribution, and associated operational risks
  • Proven ability to process, analyse, and present data to support risk decision-making and action planning
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and facilitate discussions
  • Experience in implementing or embedding risk frameworks, policies, and control standards across large organisations
  • Knowledge of FCA/PRA requirements and expectations relating to third-party and conduct risks
  • Delivery-focused, pragmatic, with a strong commercial outlook and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop teams and colleagues, fostering a risk-aware culture across diverse stakeholders
