Technical & Reporting Accountant

Overview

In this role you will drive IFRS-focused financial reporting and technical accounting for Canonical as it prepares for public market scrutiny. You will work within the Finance team to interpret standards, advise on complex transactions, and produce policy papers while supporting audits and statutory reporting across multiple entities. You’ll help streamline processes, share knowledge, and contribute to IPO readiness in a globally distributed, collaborative environment. Responsibilities

• Interpret new and existing accounting standards and provide technical guidance
• Draft accounting papers and policy documentation
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on the business
• Assist with year-end external audit and support internal audit
• Support month-end reporting for timely, accurate management information
• Ensure IFRS/local GAAP compliance across subsidiaries
• Assist in preparing statutory accounts and annual reports
• Support IPO preparation and related financial processes
• Improve efficiency of financial processes and monitor compliance
• Share knowledge within the team and develop ongoing technical skills
• Establish relationships with key colleagues outside finance

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Accounting or equivalent
• Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CPA, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP
• Experience in financial reporting and statutory accounts preparation
• Experience at a large public accounting firm or multinational corporate accounting department preferred
• NetSuite or similar ERP system experience
• Business-level written and spoken English
• International travel 2–4 times a year
