Overview

As a Senior Data Scientist at Faculty, you lead high-impact AI safety projects and help set upstream evaluation standards. You’ll shape scientific experiments, design robust software architectures, and mentor teammates while delivering rigorous results for Frontier Labs. You collaborate with commercial teams to translate complex problems into solid frameworks and contribute to thought leadership through open-source work and publishing. This role blends hands-on research with cross-functional leadership in a mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams delivering upstream AI safety solutions and evaluation standards to Frontier Labs
• Design core scientific experiments and software architectures for new engagements
• Mentor technical team members and support their professional growth
• Collaborate with commercial teams to scope projects and translate problems into rigorous frameworks
• Contribute to Faculty’s thought leadership through research, speaking, or open-source work
• Ensure rigorous scientific methodology and best practices across the project lifecycle

Key requirements

• Senior experience in a professional data science role, upstream safety research, or quantitative academic field with strong experiment design
• Strong Python programming skills with NumPy and Pandas
• Experience with evaluation frameworks and tooling (e.g., Inspect AI) and agentic harnesses
• Curiosity and expertise across the data science toolkit with drive to develop novel evaluation standards
• High technical rigor and a collaborative mindset to nurture team capabilities
• Commercial awareness and ability to bridge scientific work with client requirements in Frontier Labs
• Proven ability to scope technical work and guide projects to meet timelines
