Finance Director

Overview

As Finance Director, you will own the finance function and act as a strategic partner to enable ambitious growth. You will shape the financial strategy, lead long-term planning, and drive performance in a fast-growing construction business. Working closely with the Managing Director and senior leaders, you will provide commercial insight and ensure robust financial controls to support expansion. This is a board-level, impact-focused role with opportunities to influence funding, investments, and exit strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the financial strategy and long-term planning for the business
• Deliver budgeting, forecasting, and robust financial reporting
• Provide commercial insight to support growth decisions
• Oversee cash flow, working capital, and funding needs
• Drive profitability and cost control across projects and operations
• Develop and improve financial systems, processes, and controls
• Lead and develop the finance team
• Liaise with external stakeholders (auditors, banks, advisors)
• Support potential investment, funding, or exit strategies

Key requirements

• Fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
• Senior finance leadership experience (FD or Head of Finance)
• Background in construction, engineering, or project-based environments is highly desirable
• Strong commercial acumen with board-level influencing ability
• Experience managing cash flow, project profitability, and growth strategy
• Hands-on approach balancing strategic and operational work
