Overview
In this role you will support pension operations to ensure high-quality service to policyholders while coordinating with Risk, Transitions, and Finance. You will collaborate with Third Party Administrators, oversee pension processes, and contribute to data and reporting for senior management. Your work drives operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and positive outcomes for policyholders, trustees, and shareholders. This role offers opportunities to influence processes, improve efficiencies, and develop technical and relational skills within a regulated financial services environment.

Responsibilities
- Oversee Third Party Administrators to ensure KPI achievement and exceptional service
- Collaborate with TPAs on complex pension calculations and queries
- Provide oversight and auditing of pension services processes (increases, DSARs, overpayments, high-value payments) and identify improvements
- Audit Third Party Administration partners’ process guides for compliance with PIC policies, pensions legislation, and control frameworks
- Ensure TPAs operate within PIC guidelines and Consumer Duty requirements
- Attend supplier meetings with TPAs and support data collation for audits
- Support funding requests and calculation checks for Buy In scheme Trustee Administration
- Coordinate with internal teams (Transitions, Actuarial, Payroll) to service Trustees on Buy In risk transfers
- Provide pension technical expertise to interpret rules and legislation
- Contribute inputs to MI and management reports
- Identify and implement process improvements in PIC’s administration model
- Manage ad-hoc projects with defined timescales
- Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the Financial Ombudsman Service
- Own learning and development in both technical and non-technical skills
- Provide insights on Customer Operations impact on policyholders
Key requirements
- Good technical knowledge of defined benefit pension schemes
- Experience with defined benefit pensions administration
- Knowledge of pensions legislation and its application
- Experience with complex manual pension calculations
- Familiar with pensions buy-ins/buy-outs and transitions process
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to persuade and influence stakeholders
- Ability to meet deadlines within defined procedures
- Effective collaboration with stakeholders
- Proficiency in MS Access, MS PowerPoint, MS Word
