Overview

You will lead the design, deployment, and governance of motor pricing models to deliver fair, accurate prices and sustainable growth. You’ll work within the Pricing, Data and Analytics community to elevate pricing strategy and analytical capability. You will influence senior stakeholders and collaborate across underwriting, retail and finance to ensure compliant, commercially effective decisions. This role offers strategic impact, leadership of a pricing team, and the chance to shape pricing as a core business capability.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement risk pricing strategies across the motor portfolio with measurable commercial impact
  • Enhance pricing sophistication, segmentation, and predictive capability
  • Lead end-to-end pricing changes from concept to deployment
  • Oversee development of advanced pricing models (GLMs, ML, telematics where relevant)
  • Ensure models are robust, well-documented, and aligned with business objectives
  • Translate analytical outputs into clear insights for senior stakeholders
  • Ensure pricing activity complies with governance and regulatory standards (GIPP)
  • Lead Pre-RAC/RAC submissions and material pricing decisions
  • Maintain controls around model changes, documentation, and auditability
  • Partner with Underwriting, Retail, Finance, and Analytical Engineering
  • Communicate pricing strategy and performance to senior leadership
  • Influence cross-functional decisions to align pricing, trading, and underwriting
  • Monitor pricing performance (loss ratio, conversion, retention) and identify trends
  • Continuously optimise pricing models post-deployment
  • Manage and develop a team of Pricing Managers, Analysts, and Senior Analysts
  • Provide coaching and career development; foster a high-performance, inclusive culture

Key requirements

  • Strong experience in general insurance pricing (preferably UK motor)
  • Deep technical expertise in statistical modelling (GLMs; ML desirable)
  • Track record of end-to-end pricing initiatives
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and governance requirements (GIPP)
  • Excellent communication with ability to influence senior leaders
