Overview

As London Trade Finance Senior Manager, you drive risk management and trade finance strategy for Shell’s Trading & Supply activities across EMEA. You partner with the global team, banks, and internal stakeholders to secure favourable trade finance terms and ensure compliance. You lead credit and risk discussions, oversee bank relationships, and support the transformation of trade finance services through technology. This is a pivotal role for shaping secure, efficient trading activity within a leading energy business.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary focal point on trade finance risk management and strategy for T&S EMEA with senior stakeholders
  • Partner with the global Trade Finance team to provide advice and training for high-calibre trade finance guidance
  • Lead engagements with banks and insurers to secure appropriate trade finance security at competitive prices
  • Ensure relevant policies (Global Shell Trading Credit Manual, Manual of Authorities) are fit-for-purpose and compliant
  • Support allocation/renewal of open credit lines to banks and participate in High Risk Counterparty Committee for KYC
  • Manage bank exposure, overdue and late payment monitoring, and ensure risk is appropriately transferred to financial institutions
  • Oversee import/export Documentary LCs and complex structures (advance payment, tripartite agreements)
  • Contribute to the transformation agenda using AI analytics, workflow automation and digital collaboration tools
  • Foster knowledge sharing and professional development across the trade finance team
  • Support the T&S growth agenda by identifying best-practice solutions

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in trade finance within trading environment or banking
  • Experience negotiating and drafting trade finance documents and managing credit facilities with banks
  • Strong communication, business partnering and influencing across management levels
  • Proven ability to manage conflicting priorities in a time-pressured environment
  • Knowledge of ETRM systems (Endur, DEX, SAP)
