Overview
In this role you will coordinate Costain’s delivery of Cadent’s capital programme in the East of England, aligning field delivery with designers’ directions and LDPs. You will work with site teams, customer care officers and supervisors to ensure safe, compliant construction activity and a high standard of customer service. You’ll drive on-time, in-budget delivery while improving regulatory performance and customer experience. This role offers a hands-on leadership position within a cross-functional project team, shaping how large-scale gas infrastructure is renewed and reinforced. Responsibilities
- Coordinate personnel, local delivery partners and site management to deliver construction work across Cadent network.
- Maximise customer experience and meet Costain’s customer commitments to Cadent.
- Promote and demonstrate high safety and compliance standards on all works.
- Develop and manage work programmes to ensure delivery on cost and time according to regulatory and Cadent standards.
- Lead and manage engineering teams, optimise operational activities, and ensure high standards of customer service and safety.
- Manage supply chain performance to achieve contract objectives and maintain relationships with local authorities.
- Lead incident reporting, investigations and close-out of remedial actions; support temporary works duties as required.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings and team briefs to enhance safety culture and staff engagement.
- Carry out standby and call-out duties as required and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Cadent Safe Control of Operations and related procedures; advocate for the contract with senior stakeholders.
Key requirements
- Gas supervisory experience (beneficial but not essential)
- Ability to lead a team and drive performance
- Site management experience
- High standards of safety and customer behaviour; able to lead by example
- Working knowledge of relevant codes of practice, safety and statutory regulations
- Experience delivering works in a safe and compliant manner
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in SCO procedures (beneficial)
- Current UK driving licence
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Competent Person for routine operations (SCO5)
- Authorising Engineer for permit to work for excavations (SCO2)
