Overview
In this role you will lead development-focused transport planning projects within a busy Development Planning team. You will guide projects from feasibility through delivery, collaborating with clients, planning authorities, and design teams. You’ll prepare key reports and provide strategic input on planning processes, mentoring junior staff and contributing to business development at a Principal level. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage development-focused transport planning projects
- Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, access studies, and technical reports
- Advise clients through planning and development processes from site promotion to delivery
- Liaise with clients, planning authorities, highway authorities, and design teams
- Manage project budgets, programmes, and resources
- Support and mentor junior team members
- At Principal level, contribute to client development, fee proposals, and team growth
Key requirements
- Strong UK development planning experience
- Experience preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans
- Knowledge of TRICS, TEMPro, and junction modelling software such as Junctions, LinSig, or similar
- Experience working with developers, consultants, architects, and local authorities
- Strong report-writing, communication, and project management skills
- Commercial awareness and ability to manage client expectations
- A collaborative approach and interest in supporting junior colleagues
- Experience across residential, mixed-use, commercial, retail, or regeneration projects is advantageous
- Professional membership of CIHT, TPS, CILT, or a similar organisation is desirable
