Overview
In this role you will lead day-to-day operations and people management to support safe, effective patient care in a rural GP practice. You will collaborate with the Practice Manager and Lead GP to ensure clear communication and efficient service delivery, with a hands-on, adaptable leadership style. The position offers flexible hours (20–30/week) and a pathway for career progression within the NHS. You will help shape a tightly run practice focused on patient-centered care and a positive, proactive team culture.
Responsibilities
- Co-lead the daily running of the practice with the Practice Manager and Lead GP
- Foster safe, effective patient care and clear internal communication
- Provide leadership with a hands-on, problem-solving approach
- Support HR processes and confidentiality requirements
- Assist in financial planning/monitoring where needed (outsourced components)
- Contribute to a positive team culture and change management efforts
Key requirements
- Experience in a GP practice or similar setting
- Strong verbal and written communication; good listening skills
- Understanding of HR processes and dealing with people issues
- Good IT skills and comfort with technology
- Experience in finance/accounts or budgeting (even if outsourced)
- Respect for confidentiality and information governance
- Ability to work under pressure and stay positive with a supportive team
