Property Claims Underwriter

Overview

In this role you will join Hiscox’s in-house claims team to deliver outstanding service to policyholders, brokers and external partners. You will handle notifications, assess policy coverage, negotiate fair settlements and manage claims through defined processes. The position emphasizes customer-first service, continuous improvement and timely, accurate claims handling in a fast-paced environment. You’ll work with cross-functional stakeholders, uphold the Hiscox claims philosophy, and contribute to a culture of service excellence. This hybrid role offers office days and home-based flexibility, within a supportive, values-driven team.

Responsibilities

• Handle calls from policyholders, brokers, third parties and loss adjusters to advance claims
• Take claim notifications and progress claims through appropriate channels
• Review and confirm policy coverage positions
• Negotiate and settle claims with focus on prompt resolution and indemnity control
• Adhere to defined processes and ensure clear documentation of information and next steps
• Meet and exceed SLAs/targets
• Demonstrate proactive portfolio management, reserving accuracy and cost control
• Work independently, adapt style to individual customers and promote continuous improvement within UK Property Claims
