Overview

In this role, you will drive the Zero Harm strategy on BU Zero Harm, providing expert HS&W guidance to project teams and engaging stakeholders across the supply chain. You’ll align local risk-based SLAs with UK regulatory and BMS requirements, conduct site inspections, and lead incident investigations to ensure continuous safety improvement. You will support bid responses and collaborate with design teams to reduce HS&W risk, while mentoring peers and promoting a culture of safety and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of the Zero Harm Action Plan with visible leadership and cross-functional collaboration
  • Provide expert HS&W guidance to project teams and external partners
  • Develop and review risk-based Service Level Agreements with projects, quarterly
  • Conduct regular site inspections and document findings via Project Portal
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses per Group Standards and BMS
  • Support work-winning teams with HS&W input for bids, proposals and PQQs
  • Collaborate with design and engineering to eliminate HS&W risks in the design phase
  • Innovate and improve safety practices while keeping pace with industry changes
  • Provide mentoring and development support to other HS&W colleagues

Key requirements

  • Relevant HS&W qualifications with on-site experience
  • Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel
  • Strong understanding of UK Health and Safety Regulatory Framework
  • Ability to influence and promote a positive HS&W culture at all levels
  • Ability to plan and manage projects within budgets
  • Competence in incident investigation
  • Ability to prepare formal HS&W written reports
  • Commitment to continual learning and applying expertise to add value
  • Experience of complex construction and civils projects
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred but not essential
