Strategic Asset Manager

Overview

In this Strategic Asset Manager role, you will shape the long-term future of Severn Trent’s water assets by crafting a 25-year investment strategy for pumping stations, storage, and reservoirs. You’ll work with Strategy and Regulation to support regulatory submissions and asset rationalisation under our 25-year Water System Plan. You’ll manage a substantial annual investment programme, driving improvements through data, innovation, and external partnerships. This position offers meaningful impact in a mission-driven utility focused on customers and climate resilience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a 25-year investment strategy for Treated Water Pumping Stations, Treated Water Storage, and Impounding Reservoirs
• Produce regulatory submissions (e.g., PR29 Business Plan)
• Provide technical sponsorship and support asset rationalisation aligned with the 25-year Water System Plan
• Oversee an annual investment programme of £200m–£250m to deliver business plan benefits
• Leverage data, industry learning, and best practice to drive continuous improvement
• Collaborate with innovation specialists to explore new opportunities
• Build and maintain strong external relationships; represent the business in industry forums and stakeholder groups

• Strategic thinker with a strong grasp of water networks and hydraulics
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence colleagues at all levels
• Proven ability to work with internal and external stakeholders and under tight deadlines
• Ability to compile, analyse, interpret, and present complex technical data sets
