Overview
As a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will provide strategic technical leadership across major water and wastewater projects in the Midlands. You will guide multidisciplinary teams through feasibility, option selection, detailed design and delivery, acting as the technical authority for MEICA. You will mentor engineers, strengthen client relationships and help shape the discipline’s strategic direction. This role offers the opportunity to influence AMP8-scale programmes and drive engineering excellence while advancing sustainability and resilience for UK communities.

Responsibilities
- provide high-level technical leadership across major infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects
- guide teams through the full project lifecycle from feasibility to delivery
- act as technical authority for mechanical engineering in water and wastewater plants, pumping stations and conveyance systems
- drive engineering excellence and innovative, sustainable solutions
- mentor and develop engineers and support business growth
- influence client outcomes and strengthen client relationships
- shape strategic direction of the Midlands MEICA discipline
- collaborate with contractors, supply chain partners and technical leaders
Key requirements
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartered status
- extensive experience delivering detailed mechanical design within the UK water sector
- proven experience leading complex mechanical projects and multidisciplinary teams
- strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment, pumping and conveyance systems
