Clinical Negligence Senior Associate

Overview

In this role you will join a respected Bristol clinical negligence team to manage high-value claimant cases from pre-action through litigation. You will work closely with specialists to handle complex matters, mentor junior lawyers, and contribute to business development. The position offers autonomy, a supportive culture, and hybrid working. You’ll handle diverse proceedings, from drafting to court appearances, making a meaningful impact on claimants and the firm’s growth.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of complex pre-action and litigated clinical negligence claims
• Advise clients on funding arrangements (CFAs, Legal Aid, legal expenses insurance)
• Draft witness statements, pleadings, and Court documents
• Instruct medical experts and Counsel
• Attend hearings, inquests and case management conferences as appropriate
• Support junior lawyers on complex matters
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development

Key requirements

• Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with at least six years’ PQE in claimant clinical negligence
• Strong technical ability and client care skills
• Experience managing high-value claims from inception to resolution
• Collaborative approach and willingness to develop junior team members
• Accreditation with APIL, AvMA or Law Society advantageous but not essential
