Senior Data Science Manager (Experimentation)

Overview

As Senior Manager, you will own and mature the experimentation ecosystem for Viator and Tripadvisor, shaping how we design, run, and interpret tests to drive product impact. You will lead governance, standards, and tooling to ensure high-quality, interpretable results and faster decision-making. You’ll collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to scale experimentation velocity and coverage across surfaces. This role offers a chance to influence product strategy through rigorous data science and experimentation leadership in a data-driven, travel-platform environment. Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end experimentation operating system, including governance, standards, lifecycle, and quality controls across all experiments
• Define and enforce experimentation standards for design, metrics, validity, and metadata
• Improve experimentation velocity and coverage with balanced testing across product areas
• Establish a trusted source of truth for experimentation health with clear visibility into what is tested and outcomes
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data Engineering, and Product Data Science leadership to align priorities and resolve system-level issues
• Identify and mitigate systemic failure modes in experimentation design and execution
• Reduce reliance on central experimentation support by improving upstream design quality and embedding correct behaviors in product teams
• Own experimentation literacy and enable teams to design, run, and interpret experiments in product development
• Design and scale frameworks, documentation, and tooling to default correct experimentation and reduce ad hoc guidance
• Ensure metadata integrity and completeness for comparable, auditable results
• Act as escalation point for system health to resolve issues quickly across cycles

Key requirements

• Extensive experience in data science, experimentation, product analytics or similar quantitative discipline with proven impact on governance or decision quality
• Strong SQL and Python skills with expertise in A/B testing, causal inference, and applied experimentation frameworks
• Systems thinking to design and improve end-to-end experimentation systems
• Product sense to influence prioritization and roadmap via experimentation insights
• Strategic influence to engage senior stakeholders without formal authority
• Experience scaling experimentation velocity, quality, and adoption through frameworks or automation
• Critical thinking to evaluate design and results and uplift others’ thinking
• Leadership through influence, driving cross-team change
