Overview

As a Senior Analytical Chemist, you will lead analytical QA testing and method validation to ensure safety and quality of medical products. You will work within a QA-focused team to interpret data, drive investigations, and mentor analysts, contributing to continuous improvement and compliance. The role combines hands-on testing with technical leadership to uphold high laboratory standards and support regulatory readiness. Responsibilities

  • deputise for the Laboratory Supervisor and maintain service levels
  • perform testing of raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using approved methods
  • conduct analytical testing using techniques such as ICP, GC, IR, UV-Vis, TOC
  • maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment according to procedures
  • review, interpret, approve, and report test data for compliance and trends
  • support investigations of OOS/OOT results
  • provide technical expertise on testing methodologies and assess potential failures impact
  • prioritise workload to meet lead times and deadlines
  • lead method validation, equipment validation, and change control activities
  • train and mentor analysts to ensure compliant practices
  • ensure laboratory activities follow safety and risk assessment controls
  • own, review, and update SOPs and test methods per document control
  • produce technical and scientific reports for complex work
  • manage workload within defined timelines
  • build relationships with stakeholders
  • drive continuous improvement initiatives in the laboratory

Key requirements

  • Strong experience in Quality Assurance and analytical laboratory environments
  • A degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a comparable scientific background
  • Expertise in data analysis, trend evaluation, root cause investigation, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
