Senior/Staff Design Engineer

Overview

In this role, you shape AI-powered product experiences as a senior/Staff Design Engineer on AlphaSense’s Design team. You’ll translate complex data and AI capabilities into high-quality, production-ready interfaces that feel tailored and indispensable to user workflows. You’ll mentor peers, influence engineering and design decisions, and elevate our design system as a core product infrastructure. You’ll work closely with product and engineering to align user needs with business goals, delivering impactful, scalable experiences.

Responsibilities

• Create high-fidelity, coded prototypes and interaction models for AI-powered workflows
• Own high-impact initiatives from concept to production, balancing design, technical rigor, and user needs
• Lead technical design discussions and guide cross-team implementation
• Advance AlphaSense’s design system to enable scalable, consistent AI-native experiences
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into effective designs
• Partner with engineering to maintain design fidelity and user experience throughout development lifecycle
• Drive cross-functional alignment, balancing technical constraints, business goals, and user experience
• Apply an AI-first mindset to design and build using AI tooling, agent-driven workflows, and code-based prototyping

Key requirements

• 10+ years in product design, design/UX/front-end engineering, design systems, or related discipline
• Bachelor’s degree or higher (design, CS, information sciences, psychology, or HCI preferred)
• Hands-on experience with HTML/CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, React
• Experience building AI and agentic experiences and leveraging AI in design/development
• Experience with modern AI technologies (e.g., MCP, Claude Code, Codex, Skills)
• Production-ready shipping and cross-team influence on technical and design choices
• Strong user-centered design and end-to-end customer workflow understanding
• Excellent communication and collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders
