Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer in AECOM’s Scotland Water Team, you will contribute to shaping sustainable, resilient water systems. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver feasibility studies, detailed designs, and construction support for high-impact water projects. You will work on site surveys, design reviews, and plant equipment specifications to drive value for customers and communities. Responsibilities
- Prepare feasibility studies and complete design stages from outline to construction support
- Create plant layouts, mechanical drawings, and specifications including WIMES data sheets and P&IDs
- Develop valve and equipment schedules, lifting strategies, and hydraulic headloss calculations
- Collaborate with civil, electrical, process, and mechanical engineers across disciplines
- Visit sites to perform surveys and liaise with clients, contractors and suppliers
- Participate in design reviews (HAZOPs, HAZIDs, ALMs, SWIFTS)
Key requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Progress towards Chartered Engineer status (e.g., IMechE)
- Proven ability to deliver engineering designs, reports, drawings, specifications, and calculations
- Hands-on experience in water and wastewater engineering projects
