Overview
In this role you will lead the ongoing development and embedding of patient-level information and costing (PLICS) across a broad health system. You’ll own the PLICS strategy, set workplans, and develop costing models while ensuring data quality and generating insights for service performance and financial sustainability. You will collaborate with finance, digital and operational leaders to interpret complex costing data, benchmark services, and support business cases and transformation initiatives. This is a high-impact, autonomous senior post with system-wide influence.
Responsibilities
- Influence senior stakeholders on data approaches and develop KPIs for data integration and quality
- Maintain deep knowledge of data sources and QA methods to support data reuse
- Lead data architecture improvements and act as a systems integration specialist
- Oversee analytical techniques and development of data products/releases, including complex or sensitive outputs
- Promote data ethics, governance, and legal compliance; educate across the organization to build data literacy
- Advocate data-driven decision making for service delivery, redesign, policy and strategy
- Ensure cross-department integration with central data systems and horizon scan for new technologies
- Manage team capacity, delivery timelines, budget, and quality; coach staff
- Build and maintain external data networks to advance the data agenda
- Communicate findings to diverse audiences and adapt presentations to different stakeholders
Key requirements
- Significant post-qualification experience (e.g., 10 years) in technical and professional roles
- People and project management experience
- Experience engaging with senior officers and Ministers in a political environment
- Degree-level qualification in a numerate subject ( Maths/Science/Social Science) or equivalent
- CMI Level 5 Management Training and project management experience
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Desirable: postgraduate qualification or deep expertise in a narrower specialty
