Overview

As a Geotechnical Engineer in Arup’s North UK Ground Engineering team, you will translate complex ground conditions into safe, buildable solutions. You will work across energy, water, transport and built-environment projects, from site investigations to design and construction support. You collaborate with design and construction partners to deliver resilient outcomes for clients and communities. Responsibilities

  • Deliver geotechnical engineering work for projects across the region
  • Act as the focal point between design and construction partners
  • Support from early site investigation through to design and construction
  • Develop ground models from desktop studies, field and lab data
  • Interpret investigation results and provide project-specific geotechnical solutions
  • Utilise industry software for analysis (e.g., OpenGround, Leapfrog, PLAXIS)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate with clients
  • Manage work packages across multiple projects and locations
  • Contribute to the growth of Arup’s ground engineering capability in the North

Key requirements

  • Geotechnical design experience or relevant academic study for foundations, retaining walls, earthworks, slopes and buried structures
  • Experience with desktop studies and planning/interpretation of ground investigations and tests
  • Experience developing ground models from data
  • Experience with or exposure to OpenGround, Leapfrog; PLAXIS desirable
  • Collaborative and adaptable working style with strong communication
  • Ability to manage multiple work packages across projects and locations
  • recognised tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology; professional qualification or current study with ICE or equivalent
