Overview
As Senior MEP Cost Manager for data centres, you will lead cost planning and commercial management of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems on complex projects. You will partner with project teams to optimise design, procurement and value, while guiding clients on costs, contracts and change control. This role combines technical MEP expertise with strong stakeholder communication to drive value and risk management. You will shape commercial strategies for large-scale data centre programmes and mentor junior staff. This position offers impactful work at the intersection of engineering, finance and delivery.

Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed cost estimates for MEP systems within data centre projects
- Analyse and report on cost variances with recommendations to improve value and performance
- Collaborate with project teams to support cost-effective design solutions
- Prepare and manage tender documentation, contracts and procurement strategies
- Contribute to value engineering opportunities for optimisation
- Manage change control processes and support contract variation negotiations
- Provide specialist advice on MEP systems and associated costs to clients and stakeholders
- Monitor and forecast project cash flow
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations and project procedures
- Mentor and share knowledge with colleagues
Key requirements
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in MEP cost management with data centre focus
- Advanced knowledge of MEP systems and data centre infrastructure
- Proficiency in cost estimation software (CostX, Causeway)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proven project management experience
- In-depth understanding of data centre design and construction
- Comprehensive knowledge of MEP standards and regulations for data centres
- Experience in contract administration and procurement
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
