Overview
In this role you will lead flood risk and river engineering projects in Scotland, supporting Stantec’s Rivers and Coastal Management work within the Infrastructure business. You will manage project lifecycles, supervise team members, and liaise with clients and stakeholders to deliver sustainable drainage, hydraulic modelling, and flood risk solutions. The position offers growth into a development lead in Scotland and exposure to high-profile public sector projects. You will work with cross-functional teams to translate client needs into effective designs and consents.

Responsibilities
- Lead projects from enquiry to delivery within the Scottish region
- Develop flood alleviation and river engineering schemes for public sector clients
- Coordinate flood risk assessments, hydraulic modelling, and outline drainage design
- Lead project teams and manage relationships across the business
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients and external consultees
- Collaborate with design teams to ensure integrated, high-quality schemes
- Support the UK Director of Flood Risk and Sector Lead for Flood and Coastal Resilience
- Develop into the development lead in Scotland with a client-centered approach
Key requirements
- BSc/BEng/MEng/MSc in a relevant engineering field
- Chartered or near-chartered status through ICE/CIWEM (preferred)
- Extensive experience in flood risk and water management
- Experience in design of sustainable drainage systems or nature-based solutions (desirable)
- Hydraulic modelling experience (ICM, Flood Modeller, or TUFLOW) (desirable)
- River engineering, restoration/habitat improvement, or flood alleviation schemes (desirable)
