Overview
As a Mechanical Project Manager in SGN’s Major Projects (Scotland) team, you will lead the delivery of high‑pressure gas transmission projects, from feasibility through to commissioning. Based in Edinburgh, you’ll coordinate design, planning, procurement and site execution, ensuring safety, schedule and budget adherence. You’ll manage engineers and contractors, collaborating with Maintenance, Network and third parties to deliver value and align with SGN’s mission to keep gas safe and reliable. This role offers significant impact in upgrading pipelines and above-ground installations within a net-zero energy context.

Responsibilities
- Lead engineers in design, procurement, implementation and installation of high-pressure gas transmission projects
- Build and maintain relationships with Maintenance, Network and third parties to achieve SGN’s objectives
- Manage a team to deliver projects with a focus on Safety, Engineering and Value for Money
- Oversee contractors within Contracts and Framework Agreements
- Apply project controls to deliver on time and within budget
- Coordinate feasibility studies, design, planning, procurement, site installation and commissioning for pipelines and above-ground installations
Key requirements
- Gas transmission project experience in an engineering environment
- Previous management or supervisory experience
- Good influencing, coaching and communication skills
- Degree or HND in an appropriate engineering discipline
- Valid driving licence with travel requirements
- Knowledge of gas, process or petrochemical industries is advantageous
