Overview

In this role you will join Stantec’s Manchester Town Planning team to lead and deliver a range of energy, infrastructure, and development projects. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to coordinate consenting processes, contribute to business development, and mentor junior staff. The work spans DCO/ICO examinations, Local Plan promotion, and diverse site-specific planning applications, offering meaningful impact for communities across the UK. Responsibilities

  • Promote large-scale renewable energy developments across consenting regimes
  • Coordinate DCO and ICO examination processes and hearings
  • Lead promotion of residential, mixed-use, employment, brownfield and greenfield developments via Local Plan and planning applications
  • Conduct research and site appraisals for diverse clients
  • Prepare and lodge appeals and support hearings and inquiries
  • Build and nurture lasting client relationships and contribute to business development in the NW and with national energy/infrastructure clients
  • Coordinate internal and external project teams with robust project management and QA
  • Share line management responsibilities and mentor junior team members

Key requirements

  • MRTPI qualification
  • Significant planning experience, preferably in a consultancy and with energy/infrastructure exposure
  • Exceptional organisational and project management skills
  • Proactive interest in business growth and client relationship management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex projects
  • Personable, team-oriented approach
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and access to a car
