Overview
As Senior Delivery Manager, you drive user-centered digital services for public sector clients and mentor junior delivery managers. You’ll split time between hands-on project delivery and shaping team structure, recruitment, and account work. You’ll lead agile delivery, manage risks, and ensure value delivery against statements of work, while fostering an inclusive, high-performing team culture. This role combines client stewardship with leadership within Methods’ Digital Delivery Management Team, delivering meaningful public-sector outcomes.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary client contact for multiple projects or portfolios, liaising with client Product Owners/Managers
- Support recruitment of permanent and contract Delivery Managers
- Provide line management to junior and graduate Delivery Managers
- Contribute to sales/pre-sales and bid processes
- Define and manage SoWs and team structure with the account team
- Deliver excellent client service and oversee portfolio-level project delivery
- Support Lead Delivery Managers in creating a safe, welcoming environment for the delivery team
- Draft and communicate project plans, risks, issues, and dependencies; facilitate agile delivery and remove blockers
- Upskill clients in agile methodologies and manage project budgets and burn down
- Ensure delivery against the SoW and escalate risks to Methods Digital management when needed
- Foster a safe, inclusive team environment and mentor junior staff
- Champion user needs and accessibility; apply GDS Service Manual and Service Standard principles
- Advocate iterative, agile service design and development
- Plan beyond product delivery and coordinate cross-service dependencies
- Coach teams in lifecycle stages and support organizational team dynamics
- Maintain momentum by resolving complex risks and dependencies and coaching teams on agile practice
Key requirements
- Experience in a public sector environment with knowledge of public sector standards (e.g., Service Standard)
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and provide line management
- Strong stakeholder management and executive-facing communication skills
- Proven track record in facilitating agile delivery and transformation
- Experience in budgeting, risk/issue management, and governance against SoWs
- Capability to coach others in Agile and Lean practices and foster communities of practice
- Understanding of GDS Service Manual and Service Standard implications
- Willingness to support recruitment and sales activities
- Ability to plan across complex environments and coordinate cross-service dependencies
