Overview

In this role you will lead HVDC project delivery within Arup’s High Voltage Technical team, supporting energy transition initiatives across the UK and beyond. You will work on a variety of HVDC projects, from interconnectors to offshore wind, shaping innovative and cost-effective solutions for clients. You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to manage interfaces and risks, and support bids and business development. Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of HVDC projects (onshore/offshore) or as part of a team
  • Contribute to bids and business development initiatives
  • Understand client requirements and translate into innovative, cost-effective solutions
  • Manage technical interfaces and risks across HVDC projects
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with Grid Codes
  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning activities and asset management (desirable)

Key requirements

  • Strong HVDC experience with development and delivery of HVDC projects
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Power Systems (or similar)
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership with IET (preferred)
  • Knowledge of HVDC systems, converter station layouts, standards
  • Experience in HVDC specifications, system design and studies
  • HVDC project interface management and technical risk management
  • Knowledge of UK/international grid connection processes and Grid Codes
  • Ability to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas (desirable)
