Overview

In this Capital Risk role, you operate within the firm’s second line of defense to oversee regulatory capital policies, interpretations, and calculations. You will challenge capital rules, assess impacts on transactions and new products, and validate regulatory capital approaches. You’ll communicate complex analyses to senior management and regulators, contributing to a robust capital management framework. This position sits at the intersection of risk, regulation, and business strategy, offering meaningful influence on capital decisions and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Understand capital regulations (e.g., PRA Basel 3.1, US capital rules) and determine appropriate interpretations
  • Monitor, summarize and challenge the impact of regulatory capital rules on risk appetite and implementation
  • Assess impact of capital regulation on transactions, new products and business proposals
  • Validate regulatory capital requirement approaches and calculations
  • Understand and challenge the firm’s overall capital management strategy
  • Communicate analyses on regulatory capital matters to senior managers, businesses, and regulators

Key requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience at the PRA, European regulator, or bank with IRB/IMM/IMA approach permission
  • Strong attention to detail and intellectual curiosity
  • Strong organizational skills to manage evolving projects and priorities
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Team player with ability to collaborate in a high-profile team
  • Self-motivated and proactive, willing to take on additional responsibilities
