VP of Engineering

Overview

In this hands-on VP of Engineering role, you take full ownership of a core engineering domain within Fuse Energy, reporting to the CTO. You will set architectural direction, drive delivery, and lead a cross-functional team shaping production-grade systems—from real-time generation and demand modelling to customer-facing apps. You’ll hire, structure, and mentor the team while collaborating with product and commercial stakeholders to solve high-impact problems. This is an opportunity to scale complex platforms at pace in a mission-driven, AI-enabled energy company.

Responsibilities

• Own technical strategy and delivery for a core domain (AI, trading, retail, or other platform area)
• Architect and build core systems spanning real-time generation, demand modelling, data pipelines, and customer app
• Build and lead the engineering team, including hiring, structure, and standards
• Set technical direction with CTO and leadership
• Deliver on the hardest problems with your team

Key requirements

• Proven track record of building complex systems in production
• Experience leading engineering teams while remaining hands-on
• Comfort operating with wide scope and limited structure; strong prioritization judgment
• Clear communication with engineers, product, and commercial stakeholders
• Demonstrable excellence as an individual contributor
