Senior reporter

Overview

In this role you will produce accurate, engaging news and analysis on major UK environmental stories for ENDS Report. You will build and leverage a broad network of contacts, monitor diverse sources, and pursue original stories to inform professionals in the sector. You will contribute to data journalism, research, podcasts, and longer-form content, while ensuring timely, high-quality output. You will collaborate with the editorial team and support social media and tracker services, shaping influential environmental journalism at scale.

Responsibilities

• Monitor news widely and generate off-diary leads
• Write timely news articles for ENDS Report
• Interpret subscribers’ requirements and adapt content
• Meet deadlines and adhere to house style
• Assist with research for special reports
• Support ENDS Report’s tracker services (monitoring and uploads)
• Fact-check to ensure accuracy
• Maintain awareness of political and economic context of stories
• Promote ENDS brand in-person and on social media
• Collaborate with wider editorial team and external contacts

Key requirements

• Recognised journalistic qualification
• At least two years of experience in B2B journalism, national news, or investigative reporting with a record of exclusive stories
• Data journalism skills or ability to develop them
• Ability to build and maintain professional contacts
• Excellent writing and communications skills
• Good time management and decision-making skills
• Curiosity and willingness to learn about environmental subjects
• Strong editorial standards and news judgment
