Overview

In this role you will own and deliver integrated plant layouts for Fusion and Modular Nuclear programs, spanning SMRs, AMRs and fusion projects. You will work closely with multiple disciplines to create safe, constructible and maintainable layouts in 3D CAD/BIM. You will drive layout development from concept to detailed design, lead multidisciplinary workshops and resolve design interfaces. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position shaping complex nuclear infrastructure and modular solutions in a dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Own layout development for assigned systems, buildings or plant areas
  • Develop integrated equipment, piping, cable tray, access and maintenance layouts
  • Interpret PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets and line lists
  • Capture and manage design assumptions, constraints and interfaces
  • Develop layouts within 3D CAD/BIM environments
  • Lead piping routing studies and plant integration activities
  • Act as primary layout focal point for work packages
  • Coordinate design activities across disciplines
  • Lead multidisciplinary workshops, model reviews and layout reviews
  • Identify clashes and drive resolution
  • Ensure layouts satisfy system, safety, construction and maintenance requirements
  • Produce general arrangements, layout studies and engineering deliverables
  • Author technical reports, optioneering studies and engineering recommendations
  • Present solutions to stakeholders
  • Support modularisation, construction and maintainability assessments
  • Support requirements and interface management activities

Key requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent industrial experience
  • Experience in plant layout, piping design, plant design or multidisciplinary engineering projects
  • Experience in nuclear, power generation, defence, submarine, oil & gas, process plant or other complex environments
  • Experience using CAD/BIM tools (E3D, PDMS, Plant 3D, Siemens NX, Revit, Inventor or similar)
  • Experience using Navisworks or equivalent model review software
  • Ability to interpret PFDs and P&IDs
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles, requirements management and interface management
  • Strong communication and report writing skills
  • SC Clearance or capable of achieving it
