Overview

In this role you will supervise civil works on a major water treatment upgrade project in London, reporting to the Site Manager. You’ll ensure safe, on-time delivery to specification while coordinating with the on-site team and subcontractors. You will support progress reporting, quality assurance, and site safety on a live operational site. This is a hands-on, ground-level role with a clear impact on project execution and safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise on-site civil works, directing workforce and subcontractors for safe, efficient delivery
  • Track progress against programme and report updates to the Site Manager
  • Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings
  • Ensure operatives follow RAMS, Permit to Work, and site rules
  • Conduct daily H&S inspections and assist with CDM compliance
  • Verify works align with latest drawings and specifications
  • Maintain accurate site diaries and records of works and resources
  • Assist with material take-offs, deliveries, and reconciliation
  • Liaise with Site Manager and design team to resolve on-site technical queries
  • Support quality control and promptly rectify defects
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and escalate issues as needed

Key requirements

  • SSSTS (or working towards SMSTS)
  • CSCS Supervisory card
  • EUSR National Water Hygiene
  • First Aid at Work
  • Fire Marshal
  • Proven experience supervising civil works on infrastructure or utilities
  • Good understanding of CDM 2015 and site H&S
  • Ability to read/interpret construction drawings and method statements
  • Experience on water or wastewater sites desirable
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts advantageous
  • Strong communication to lead and motivate operatives
  • Organised with strong site administration and record keeping
  • Comfort working on live operational sites with strict access/hygiene controls
